Novo pays Nanexa up to $1.32 billion for long-acting injectable technology

1. 01Novo Nordisk will pay Swedish biotech Nanexa up to about 1.165 billion euros ($1.32 billion), including 615 million euros in upfront and milestone payments, for rights to its PharmaShell drug delivery technology.
2. 02Monthly or quarterly injectable obesity and diabetes drugs would reshape adherence, dispensing and telehealth follow-up patterns now built around weekly incretin dosing.
3. 03No formulation has entered the clinic; the same week, a California jury awarded Nektar $90 million against Lilly, far below the nearly $1 billion sought, and the FDA cleared Lilly's weekly insulin Onswik.
