The wire
- 01In OUTSTAND-1, 284 adults with early type 2 diabetes at 46 Chinese sites took once-daily oral safiglipron 30, 60 or 90 mg or placebo for 32 weeks; placebo-adjusted HbA1c differences were -1.22%, -1.20% and -1.45%.
- 02Between 71.4% and 77.8% of treated patients reached HbA1c under 7.0% versus 25.0% on placebo, positioning this non-peptide oral GLP-1 agonist against injectables and oral semaglutide without fasting requirements.
- 03Weight effects were smaller than with incretin injectables, gastrointestinal events were most common, and the trial ran only in China in diet-and-exercise-managed patients with mean baseline HbA1c 7.95%.
