The wire
- 01A multi-indication model covering 1,000,000 treated Canadians with type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, MASH or CKD projected 8,400 fewer cardiovascular events, 1,100 fewer cardiovascular deaths and 235,000 fewer obesity cases by 2029.
- 02Payers and clinicians arguing semaglutide value beyond narrow healthcare budgets now have a published societal-perspective estimate, including 330kt CO2e avoided and CAD 2.0 billion in resource-use savings.
- 03This is a simulation, not observed outcomes; results were most sensitive to baseline utility values, productivity used a US-based model, and the author list includes Novo Nordisk affiliation. The model also projected 21,200 gastrointestinal adverse events.
