Lancet publishes phase 3 TRIUMPH-2 results for Lilly's triple agonist retatrutide

1. 01TRIUMPH-2 ran at 92 sites across eight countries, enrolling adults with BMI 27 kg/m2 or higher and HbA1c 6.5-10.5%; the primary endpoint was percentage bodyweight change at week 80 for the 9 mg and 12 mg doses versus placebo.
2. 02Retatrutide is the first GIP, GLP-1 and glucagon receptor triple agonist to report phase 3 data in this population, where incretin therapies have historically produced smaller weight reductions than in obesity without diabetes.
3. 03Baseline mean BMI was 38.2 kg/m2 and mean HbA1c 7.71%; 84% of participants completed study drug, and 92% were already on oral glucose-lowering medication. The trial is registered as NCT05929079 and is complete.
