Orforglipron holds 75-80% of injectable GLP-1 weight loss in ATTAIN-MAINTAIN

- 01Published May 12 in Nature Medicine, the Lilly-sponsored trial found patients switching to once-daily oral orforglipron kept about 75-80% of their weight loss plus waist, blood pressure, glucose, triglyceride and cholesterol gains.
- 02Lead author Louis Aronne of Weill Cornell called it the first longer-term maintenance study of an oral GLP-1 after an injectable, relevant to patients avoiding injections or refrigeration.
- 03Participants came from SURMOUNT-5; 205 were on tirzepatide and 171 on semaglutide, and the sponsor makes both orforglipron and tirzepatide. Gastrointestinal side effects were mild to moderate.
