01A review in Life synthesized reported genetic variants associated with altered response to GLP-1 receptor agonists, mostly in GLP1R but also TCF7L2 and PNPLA3, with PPARD, WFS1 and VTRNA2-1 flagged in at least one study.
02Variable weight loss and glycemic response is a daily clinical reality; the paper maps which loci have been implicated and how weak the underlying evidence currently is.
03The authors conclude evidence remains limited and inconsistent, and say more studies are needed before pharmacogenetics can be used to guide GLP-1 prescribing.
