The wire
- 01Pooled results across eight RCTs showed body weight down 6.54 kg, BMI down 2.34 kg/m2, HbA1c down 0.32% and waist circumference down 5.22 cm with GLP-1 receptor agonists in adults on antipsychotics.
- 02Weight reduction was greatest with semaglutide, then liraglutide, and increased with longer treatment duration, giving prescribers subgroup signals for patients with severe mental illness.
- 03Heterogeneity was high for weight and BMI (I2 92% and 85%), the total sample was only 535 randomized participants, and no significant effects were seen for total cholesterol, triglycerides or HDL-C.
