  1. 01SANS with contrast variation examined 100 mM and 300 mM sodium caprate in fasted- and fed-state simulated intestinal fluid; octreotide produced bilayer discs at pH 6.5 and rod-like micelles at pH 8.5.
  2. 02Caprate is a widely used permeation enhancer in oral peptide formulations, so excipient-peptide structure helps explain variable absorption.
  3. 03Findings are in simulated fluids with coarse-grained simulations, not in vivo; translation to human oral bioavailability is untested.
