Follicular kisspeptin-54 and VEGF rise in PCOS and hyperstimulation

In 90 IVF patients, both markers tracked AMH, antral follicle count and oocyte yield, and stayed associated with OHSS in regression models.

The wire

  1. 01Retrospective cross-sectional study measured follicular fluid Kisspeptin-1, Kisspeptin-54 and VEGF by ELISA in 30 normoresponders, 30 women with PCOS and 30 who developed OHSS; all differed significantly (p<0.001).
  2. 02Kisspeptin-54 (OR 1.031) and VEGF (OR 1.008) remained associated with OHSS alongside AFC, AMH and trigger-day estradiol, adding to the case that kisspeptin signalling reflects ovarian hyperresponsiveness.
  3. 03Design is retrospective with 30 patients per arm and measures kisspeptin as a marker, not a therapy; the authors frame the peptides as complementary indicators pending prospective work.
