- 01Among 1,904 people with type 2 diabetes and/or obesity, 575 GLP-1 users reported nail disorders at 66% versus 53% of non-users, with nail discoloration at 46% versus 17%, presented at EADV in Vienna.
- 02Researchers said higher risks persisted after accounting for weight loss and prior nail problems, leaving users two to three times more prone to detachment or discoloration.
- 03The investigators say the cross-sectional design cannot prove cause and effect; a prospective trial tracking hair, scalp and nails from treatment start is planned.
