FAERS analysis finds distinct adverse event patterns for tirzepatide and semaglutide
Only semaglutide met four-method signal criteria for gastrointestinal and metabolic disorders in the general-reporter population, while tirzepatide showed higher hypoglycaemia reporting.

The wire
- 01Researchers analysed 151,654 tirzepatide and 64,987 semaglutide FAERS reports from May 2022 to June 2026, finding semaglutide GI ROR 3.64 and metabolic ROR 4.25, with tirzepatide hypoglycaemia RORR 1.91.
- 02Reporter identity shifted the picture: healthcare professionals filed 23.42% of semaglutide reports versus 5.04% for tirzepatide, and in that cohort tirzepatide GI ROR rose to 2.53 and semaglutide showed eye disorder signals.
- 03Pancreatitis signalled for both but attenuated to equivalence within type 2 diabetes; the authors call all findings hypothesis-generating pending defined exposure denominators.
