The wire

  1. 01Retrospective study of 232 adults with type 2 diabetes starting oral semaglutide at one Italian clinic found -0.8% HbA1c and -5.7 kg at 24 months, with 44.0% meeting a combined HbA1c and weight endpoint.
  2. 02Renal measures stayed stable, total and LDL cholesterol fell, and non-breakfast dosing was independently associated with lower HbA1c after adjustment for BMI, age and sex.
  3. 03Single-centre retrospective design with no control arm limits inference; the authors report no safety concerns emerged but discontinuation predictors were modelled rather than randomised.
