The wire
- 01A retrospective analysis of the CompuGroup Medical Healthcare Database covered 1,223 adults starting tirzepatide between December 2023 and March 2024 and 2,300 starting between July and September 2024, mean age about 60.
- 02Most initiators had prior insulin or GLP-1 receptor agonist treatment (72.1% in cohort 1, 59.6% in cohort 2), and 71.2% started at 2.5 mg, with doses escalating over time.
- 03Authors say cohort characteristics resembled the SURPASS trials, supporting generalizability, but the study is observational, limited to German office-based practice, and reports utilisation rather than outcomes.
