The wire
- 01In a multicentre retrospective series of 20 patients under 18 with craniopharyngioma-related obesity, off-label semaglutide titrated to 0.25-2 mg weekly cut BMI by 2.5 kg/m2 and Z-score by 0.5 at 12 months.
- 02Hypothalamic obesity after craniopharyngioma has few treatment options, and 40% of patients saw BMI fall by 10% or more with only mild gastrointestinal side effects in 30%.
- 03The series is retrospective and small, drawn from 139 children with craniopharyngioma, with no control group and no long-term data on pituitary function or tumour recurrence beyond one year.
