- 01Retrospective propensity-matched analysis of patients with type 2 diabetes undergoing posterior cervical spine surgery from 2010 to 2023 found lower odds of pneumonitis (OR 0.57), 90-day surgical site infection (OR 0.72) and readmission (OR 0.82) among GLP-1 users.
- 02At two years GLP-1 users had lower odds of revision surgery (OR 0.31) and nutritional deficiency (OR 0.62), with no significant differences versus patients who had prior bariatric surgery.
- 03This is claims-database work with residual confounding risk; it shows association, not that preoperative GLP-1 therapy causes the better outcomes.
