The wire

  1. 01Among 8.2 million FAERS reports, 33,259 met inclusion criteria; semaglutide showed impaired gastric emptying signals in type 2 diabetes (ROR 8.35) and obesity (ROR 4.01), plus ischemic optic neuropathy (ROR 4.42) and suicidal ideation (ROR 5.98).
  2. 02Liraglutide showed signals for abdominal distention in diabetes (ROR 1.46) and pancreatitis in obesity (ROR 2.90), suggesting adverse event profiles differ by drug and indication.
  3. 03Disproportionality analysis of spontaneous reports cannot establish causation; several confidence intervals were wide, and the authors call for studies evaluating causal relationships.
