The wire
- 01A PRISMA-compliant review in Acta Orthopaedica Belgica searched databases to 1 June 2026 and found three human BPC-157 studies, n=30: intra-articular injections for knee pain (n=16), intravesical for interstitial cystitis (n=12), and intravenous safety (n=2).
- 02All studies reported symptom improvement in most participants with no treatment-related adverse events, but the authors conclude BPC-157 should not be used clinically outside ethically approved, high-quality trials.
- 03GRADE certainty was very low due to serious risk of bias, indirectness and imprecision; none of the included studies had a control group.
