TriNetX analysis links tirzepatide to fewer cardiovascular events than semaglutide

The wire
- 01Using TriNetX real-world records from May 2022 to August 2026, researchers found a composite of myocardial infarction, stroke and acute heart failure in 4.6% of tirzepatide users versus 5.5% of semaglutide users (HR 0.9).
- 02The comparison addresses a gap for prescribers choosing between the two incretins, since tirzepatide has only been shown non-inferior to dulaglutide on cardiovascular risk.
- 03This is propensity-matched observational data, not a randomized head-to-head trial, so residual confounding by indication, adherence and dose remains possible.
