The wire
- 01In Western Denmark patients with severe aortic stenosis undergoing TAVI or SAVR between 2016 and 2022, GLP-1 receptor agonist treatment was associated with a lower composite of death, heart failure hospitalization or valve reoperation (HR 0.69, 95% CI 0.50-0.96).
- 02All-cause mortality was also lower (HR 0.66), with reduced heart failure hospitalization and reoperation in competing-risk analyses, extending incretin cardiovascular signals to a surgical valve population.
- 03This is observational and small after matching, 292 of 5259 eligible patients, so residual confounding by indication remains; no randomized data support GLP-1 use in this setting.
