The wire
- 01In type 2 diabetes patients who developed sepsis, prior GLP-1 receptor agonist use was linked to lower 90-day all-cause mortality than prior SGLT2 inhibitor use (48.6 vs 60.6 per 100 person-years; HR 0.81, 95% CI 0.75-0.88).
- 02MACE (HR 0.77) and ICU admission (HR 0.89) remained significant after Holm correction; septic shock, acute respiratory failure and major adverse kidney events showed no difference.
- 03Authors call the findings hypothesis-generating: retrospective design, class-level exposure definition, modest E-values and pre-matching imbalances leave residual confounding possible.
