  1. 01The phase 2b ANTHEM-UC trial randomized 252 adults with moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis to once-daily oral icotrokinra 100 mg, 200 mg, 400 mg or placebo; week-12 clinical response reached 63%, 58% and 55% versus 27%.
  2. 02Icotrokinra is an oral peptide blocking the interleukin-23 receptor, offering an alternative to injected IL-23 monoclonals that require cold chain and parenteral administration.
  3. 03No unexpected safety signals emerged over 12 weeks, but the trial was mid-stage and short; phase 3 confirmation is still needed.

Can an Oral Peptide Transform Ulcerative Colitis Care?

Managing moderate to severe inflammatory bowel disease remains challenging for clinicians. Currently, biologic treatments targeting interleukin-23 require intravenous or subcutaneous administration. However, evaluating oral icotrokinra for ulcerative colitis offers an exciting new therapeutic avenue. This novel oral peptide selectively blocks interleukin-23 receptor signaling directly within the g
