GLP-1retatrutideobstructive sleep apneaeli lillynejmtirzepatide

Retatrutide cuts apnea-hypopnea index by up to 24 events hourly

The wire

  1. 01In TRIUMPH-1-OSA, 9 mg and 12 mg retatrutide lowered AHI at 80 weeks by 24.4 and 21.9 events per hour versus placebo; TRIUMPH-2-OSA, in type 2 diabetes, showed 14.4 and 15.1.
  2. 02Weight loss reached 12.5-22.2% and 12.1-18.5% across the trials versus 4.8% and 5.6% on placebo, giving sleep clinicians a possible second incretin option beyond tirzepatide.
  3. 03Commentators said results look similar to, not better than, tirzepatide's SURMOUNT-OSA data despite the triple-agonist mechanism; retatrutide is not approved for obstructive sleep apnea.
