The wire
- 01Retrospective TriNetX cohort of liver transplant recipients with type 2 diabetes found GLP-1 receptor agonist use associated with lower mortality (HR 0.33), rejection (HR 0.55) and graft failure (HR 0.50).
- 02Transplant and hepatology clinicians have had little data on incretin safety in immunosuppressed recipients; the authors suggest a potential preferred antidiabetic role.
- 03Design is retrospective and claims-based with propensity matching only on recorded covariates, so confounding by indication and prescribing selection remain unresolved.
