The wire
- 01In the 3,533-participant FLOW trial, serious adverse events occurred in 45.1% on semaglutide 1.0 mg versus 50.4% on placebo at eGFR 60 or above, and 56.4% versus 60.4% below eGFR 30.
- 02For clinicians treating type 2 diabetes with chronic kidney disease, the prespecified secondary analysis found no unexpected safety signals as eGFR fell, with adverse events of special interest similar between arms.
- 03Discontinuations for gastrointestinal adverse events were 4.5% on semaglutide versus 1.1% on placebo; safety data were collected selectively and reported descriptively, not inferentially.
