The wire
- 01In a retrospective TriNetX cohort of adults with type 2 diabetes starting therapy between January 2022 and July 2025, tirzepatide was associated with lower risk of a composite foot-complication outcome versus sulfonylureas (HR 0.80), DPP-4 inhibitors (HR 0.83) and SGLT2 inhibitors (HR 0.88).
- 02The composite covered ulcers, infections, critical limb ischemia, revascularization and amputation, outcomes clinicians weigh when selecting agents for patients at risk of ulceration.
- 03Matched cohorts ranged from roughly 97,000 to 146,000 patients per arm, but the design is observational and residual confounding and coding limitations remain.
