The wire
- 01In 62 adults with CKD stages 1-5 and type 2 diabetes plus obesity, tirzepatide reduced median weight from 103 to 100 kg, HbA1c from 63 to 54 mmol/mol, and uACR from 111 to 44 mg/mmol.
- 02Prescribers have had little real-world safety data on tirzepatide in advanced CKD; eGFR remained stable and insulin requirements fell in this multi-ethnic clinic cohort.
- 03Observational, single-centre, 62 patients, median follow-up 21.4 weeks; gastrointestinal symptoms and decreased serum bicarbonate were the most common adverse events, and authors urge multidisciplinary oversight.
