- 01Researchers validated LC-HRMS/MS methods for five GLP-1 receptor agonists and the metabolite GLP-1(9-36)-NH2, using antibody magnetic-bead purification for exenatide, lixisenatide and the metabolite, with detection limits from 9.4 to 48 pg/mL in 100 microlitres of serum.
- 02Semaglutide and tirzepatide are not prohibited but sit on the World Anti-Doping Agency Monitoring Program, so validated assays allow surveillance of use among athletes.
- 03Methods were confirmed with post-administration human samples for semaglutide and tirzepatide and murine samples for the others; these are qualitative detection methods, not quantitative or prevalence data.
