- 01In Acta Diabetologica, a systematic review of four studies and 10,624 patients, 5,427 on GLP-1 receptor agonists, found recurrent acute pancreatitis odds of 0.26 (95% CI 0.05-1.32) versus placebo and 0.57 (0.52-0.64) versus SGLT2 inhibitors.
- 02Prior acute pancreatitis is a common reason clinicians withhold incretin therapy in type 2 diabetes and obesity; these pooled data do not show an increased recurrence signal.
- 03Two single-arm studies reported recurrence rates of 9.9% and 11.9% among GLP-1 users. Comparative evidence came from only two studies, and the authors urge cautious interpretation.
