- 01Screening a library of 50 modified peptides in cultured mouse neurons, researchers found P33 halved amyloid beta release and cut BACE1-associated activity by more than 50% without affecting BACE2.
- 02Eight weeks of P33 in amyloid-plaque mice reduced brain amyloid beta and cortical and hippocampal plaque area by 35.6%, with no organ damage or inflammation marker changes reported.
- 03Results are confined to cell cultures and a transgenic mouse model, published in Bioorganic Chemistry; no human dosing, pharmacokinetic or safety data exist yet.
