The wire
- 01Chart review of 126 patients with type 2 diabetes and chronic kidney disease, 42 per group, compared semaglutide, dapagliflozin and the combination over eight weeks of treatment.
- 02Combination therapy showed larger reductions in fasting and postprandial glucose, HbA1c, blood urea nitrogen, creatinine, 24-hour urinary protein, ESR, IL-6 and hs-CRP, with no rise in recorded adverse events.
- 03Authors caution the design was retrospective with non-random treatment assignment, modest sample size and only eight weeks of follow-up, so long-term renal benefit is not established.
