The wire
- 01A PRISMA systematic review of 13 studies, mostly retrospective cohorts and largely in solid organ transplant recipients with post-transplant diabetes, linked GLP-1 receptor agonists to lower HbA1c, weight and insulin dose.
- 02Clinicians managing steroid-induced hyperglycaemia or post-transplant diabetes currently default to insulin; the review suggests GLP-1 agonists reduced injection burden with a low rate of hypoglycaemia.
- 03No outcome was informed by more than three studies and certainty was very low, so pooled estimates are exploratory; the authors call for prospective trials characterising glucocorticoid exposure.
